Description: This key from the fifteenth century is made of iron and is about 4 3/4" long. It has a kidney-shaped bow and a simple bit with hexagonal shank, shaft. The kidney-shaped bow date's this key to the fifteenth century. Its length and shape classify it as a door key. The downward directional bit suggest a more complex lock mechanism. This type of lock would have been the most complex piece of machinery owned by a household of the 1400s. English Medieval London keys were considered high quality keys for the period. Rare, authentic 1400s key for any collection. Check out my other keys for sale.
