Description: 1939 1940 CADILLAC LASALLE HOOD BIRD ORNAMENT WITH HOOD LATCH. Very little Pitting on shiny chrome and very nice top and nose where your hand goes, often lost base included, with few pits. I believe the bird is made with a steel spine cast into pot metal for extra strength. I can see a tiny crack in the pot metal , maybe from a frozen pin.The tail has been shortened. The hinge moves freely now and it will work fine on a car.The hinge pin is nice and tight and does not wiggle. Threads have been recut. Short bolts with washers and shims will be needed for installation as threads in the base are short. This is budget priced due to defects. Not for a show car. If I have a better one I will list it at a higher price. I will consider taking pin out and selling just the base or bird. Please specify in your bid. Price reduced
