Description: This is a used 37/11 BMW Final Drive that is in very good condition. It was removed from a 1971BMW R60/5. Mileage history is unknown. The drive splines are in good condition, used life is approximately 1/4 of total spline life. Pinon gear is in good condition. Gear lash feels good. All internal and external threads in good usable condition. The unit spins over with no issues. The old gear oil was drained with the usual slight metallic particles noted on magnetic drain plug. A small amount (20cc) of fresh gear oil was installed for preservation. All plugs were removed, new seals installed and snugged tight for shipping. I did not remove the drive cover, so I have no knowledge of gear condition. This part has been in dry storage for over 30 years. I do not know when the bike was last driven. I purchased the bike from a friend in the early 90's - it was not in running condition then. I did clean the years of grunge/leakage from the unit. I'm taking the bike in a different direction with satin black powder coated final drive This is an excess unit. I would recommend that this final drive be disassembled for a seal/gasket refresh and bearing inspection prior to use.
