When Queen Elizabeth ascended to power in 1953, ten new statues - the Queen's Beasts - were created to guard the entrance of Westminster Abbey. These beasts have become the subject of a wildly popular coin series issued by the British Royal Mint. In September of 2015, Queen Elizabeth II surpassed the reign of Queen Victoria to become the longest reigning British monarch in history. In celebration of this milestone, the Royal Mint began striking the Queen's Beasts collection in 2016. Each coin in this 10-coin series will feature one of the magnificent beasts tied to her highness' royal lineage. Minted in several different sizes and metals, the two-ounce pure silver 5 Pound coin was one of the most popular and affordable coins in the series. The last coins in the series were minted in 2021 - never to be struck again - and are no longer available from the Royal Mint. Of course, with her passing last year the Queen Elizabeth effigy is no longer being used making each of these coins even more collectible. This 2018 Black Bull of Clarence coin is from 2018. Heavy with two full troy of .9999 pure silver, each coin is 38.61mm in diameter and is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Comes encapsulated for protection and with a Certificate of Authenticity.
