Description: Presented is an antique, Russian silver strainer style or pierced ladle made in St. Petersburg in 1885. This late 19th century piece has a Fiddle pattern handle and it is finely hand engraved with detailed flowers and leaves. The front has an ornate, script monogram of the initials JR. The bowl is pierced and you can still slightly see the gilt wash.The back is marked with a St. Petersburg city mark, an assayer's mark with the date 1885, a maker's mark and an 84 Kokoshnik mark for 84/96 or .875 purity silver.This piece is in excellent overall condition and the engravings are crisp.
