Description: This lovely handpainted KPM porcelain Biedermeier period coffee cup features a topographical scene of Classical Berlin Cathedral designed by Karl Friederich Schinkel in the early 19th c. and demolished by Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1890 to make way for the current Berlin Cathedral. The amazingly detailed scene on our cup features couples and individual congregants approaching the Cathedral as well as a carriage with four horses. Tall poplars stand one either side of the entrance. There is a small bit of wear on the internal gilding of the cup and a small chip in the base ring. The KPM Berlin mark is faint but present the foot of the cup is also impressed with the number 96 as well as the initials PR or RR. The overall height of the cup is a bit over 3". The diameter at the lip is 3 3/8". Stock number SA2C-25
