Early American Settlers Pioneers Life And Hardships Vintage 1940s 50s Films DVD

Description: Please read & note: This is a Rights holding DVD created & produced by me and is not factory made or sealed. I strive to produce the best DVD's possible from the sometimes VERY old Public Domain material. Films that are public domain are unpreserved and not professionally remastered. I remaster all of my films myself to the best possible quality achievable. My DVDs are not the quality of todays Modern DVDs or Bluray discs. If you are looking for this kind of quality then these discs are not for you. All pictures are actual screen captures from the DVDs. Please note this when purchasing, but also know that all of the films are very watchable. To keep my prices as low as possible all my DVDs are delivered in plain paper DVD sleeves and the DVDs title will be labeled on the back of the DVD envelope. This way you can write the contents of the DVD on the DVD yourself if you want to. (See picture). All of my DVD's come with a menu for easy film selection. Total runtime of the DVD is 50 minutes. Item specifics are: Film 1: Early Settlers of New England: Salem 1626-1629 (1940) B&W Runtime 11 Minutes Excellent for showing the homes and their construction, the crude agricultural methods, the wide reliance on fish and game for food, and the primitive household equipment of the New England settlement at Salem (1626-29). Should be useful in developing an understanding of (1) the hardships of colonial life, (2) the social organization of a colonial community, (3) the importance of religion in the life of the people, and (4) some of the motives which brought the colonists to the New World. Release Date: 1940 Entered the Public Domain: 1969 Film 2: Kentucky Pioneers (1941) B&W Runtime 10 Minutes This film shows representative aspects of the early pioneering movement into the Kentucky territory. This is the life of our country in the 1780's picturing travel along the wilderness road, the role of the frontier forts, and the settler's establishment of new homes. Weaving, soap-making, cooking, candle molding, carpentry, cabin construction, schooling, and square dancing are among the activities of the time. Release Date: 1941 Entered the Public Domain: 1970 Film 3: American Pioneer (1952) B&W Runtime 19 Minutes Explains the types of people, modes of transportation and various physical dangers in the period of American expansion westward. Shows the building of a frontier fort with primitive tools and native lumber. Release Date: 1952 Entered the Public Domain: 1981 Film 4: Pioneers of the Plains (1942) B&W Runtime 10 Minutes Made when it was, this film could easily have been inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder's pioneer books for children. The film features a fiddle playing 'Pa', a staid mother and two quiet children venturing across the plains to start a new life living in a sod house. Their only contact with people are a couple of friendly neighbors, a belligerent cowboy and a travelling minister. At first glance the acting seems rather wooden but actually, whether by design or accident, their demeanor accurately reflects the reserved, thoughtful outlook that was encouraged in the late 19th century. Recommended for anyone interested in the American pioneers. Release Date: 1942 Entered the Public Domain: 1971 I claim ownership and rights to this media. All the films on this DVD have been researched and are copyright free or the copyrights have expired due to non renewal.
