Josef Originals Vintage Musical Figurine ‘Come to the Cabaret’ Pure Elegance

Description: This is a stunning vintage figurine. She is quite an elegant lady, in style and demeanor, and radiates confidence. I am unsure of the production year. Some say the 1970s, but based on research I learned JO figurines produced after 1970 were made in Taiwan, Korea, or Mexico; not Japan. This figurine has the black and gold foil tag on the bottom in italics ‘Japan’. Once JO moved production to Japan in 1960, the California tag was replaced with a Josef Originals and a curlicue tag, representing Japan production, and eventually they added the Japan tag. Unfortunately, this figurine is missing the curlicue tag, but does have the Japan tag on the base. She also has the signature Josef black eyes that were produced in California and Japan until 1982. She measures almost 7”T x 5”W. This is a music box that plays “Come to the Cabaret”, a beautiful melody in great tone. The stand that attaches to the lever seems stripped, which would account for her wobble when on the stand. It is not a tight connection and might be why you cannot wind the music box up by turning the base piece. The only way to wind it is to remove the base and wind the lever itself, therefore it’s easiest to wind up the music box with the stand removed. Otherwise, the music box is slowing down with age and doesn’t last long, but does sound delightful and it’s fun to sing along. She is glamourous with a touch of grace, dressed in an enchanting green gown embossed with a stunning display of gold glitter in front, and a string of daisies followed by pink roses. Her neckline and brim around the stylish hat are trimmed with daisies and topped with more pink roses. There are layers of white lace, giving the gown its flair, that peak out underneath the dress. She does tote an adorable matching green ruffled bag tied around her wrist. Please note. This figurine is a vintage hand painted item that may have crazing, fading, or production flaws, although I see none. There are no obvious scratches, chips, or repairs that I see. Please review the pictures with care. I am happy to send additional ones if needed. All sizes are approximate.
