Description: Ovchinnikov 1891 Russian 88 Gilt Silver Cloisonne BowlPresented is a marvelous, Russian silver cloisonne dish made by master silversmith Pavel Ovchinnikov of Moscow in 1891. The silver is lightly gilt and the whole outside is covered with fine silver wire work filled in with colorful opaque enamel. This is a lovely little cloissone dish or bowl. The underside is marked with the Russian silver purity mark of 88 out of 96 parts to denote .916 purity silver, a date and city mark for 1891 and Moscow and a maker’s mark for the Ovchinnikov firm (Pavel Ovchinnikov). This piece is in very good overall condition. There is some minor loss of enamel. Please see 3rd picture for enamel loss on red section. This is the most noticeable. Many of the flowers have missing sections of blue enamel, but it is mostly noticeable only when you inspect the piece up close. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs. The dish measures 3 1/8 inches in diameter, is 1 1/2 inches tall and weighs 57 grams or 2 ounces.
