Description: Vintage original film noir movie poster window card (14”x22”) for “Fallen Angel”, a film noir from 20th Century Fox starring Dana Andrews, Alice Faye, Linda Darnell, Bruce Cabot, John Carradine and Charles Bickford. It was directed by Otto Preminger the year after he made another film noir classic, Laura. The vibrant colors and cool hard-bitten images on this window card are in terrific condition. The window card (14”x22”) has minor signs of use and slight edge and corner wear. There are unobtrusive stains and discoloration, mostly in the borders and blank areas. However, there is a minor mark or stain by the 20th Century Fox logo, for example. The window card has also darkened slightly with age around the edges and border. The window card is in really fine condition, really captures a film noir vibe, and will display extremely well. Note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Fallen Angel is a very cynical film noir about a real heel who is involved with a “good girl” and a “bad girl”, and the bad girl will only marry marry him if he has money, so he plans to marry the good girl, take all her money, and then dump her, and take off with the bad girl!! However, the bad girl turns up dead, and many complications follow… Because of his success in Otto Preminger’s Laura, Dana Andrews was asked to play the part of Eric by Darryl Zanuck and Preminger. Initially, Andrews was hesitant due to misgivings over the script. After Preminger asked him to explain his initial declination, he argued, “In the first place, I don’t think it’s a picture for Alice Faye, but beside [sic] that, I don’t like the part of me. I don’t like the picture, it’s terrible. It’s in bad taste, it’s unbelievable. I just can’t see it at all.” He only reluctantly accepted the role after being threatened with suspension by Zanuck.
