Description: A collection of WWII letters from soldier to his wife beginning in Dec. 1942 (telegram) through 1945. 97 regular sized envelopes with mostly 3 handwritten single side pages, may be some with 2 but I have only read 10 to 15 of all of them. Italy and North Africa noted on what I read. There are 8 V-Mail War & Navy Dept 1pc envelope/letter combo, and 62 small War & Navy Dept V-Mail Service that are separate envelope and copy (microfiche?) letters. There are 20 more letters from other family members that appear were also in the military in WWII, into the early 50s. There is censoring I saw in 2 letters that I randomly opened and read, see pictures. There are several poems including one written by a nurse who was on the Uruguay to which the soldier has added his comment re: life boats a d no quarters to return to 'as I was one of the ones from "below"'. CONVOY is the title. Another poem he sent her was by an officer on the ship Santa Rosa going from the Bermuda Islands to Casa Blanca, Africa. The soldier says it was inspired by the ship wreck of the troop ship "Uruguay" and a Navy tanker (?). The shoe box they were kept in (included if you want it) had about 20 other items in it, like the folder with Humble Oil ads as maps for travelers. An old abstract on property in Lawton, Ok., warranty deed, and odds and ends that were in the box. Please look at the pictures. FYI these came from an estate sale long after both husband and wife died, and they had no children based on my very limited search
